Federal Regulations

Georgia Tech's IRBs are established pursuant to Title 45 Code of Federal Regulations Part 46 including Subparts ABC, and D, and Title 21 CFR Part 50, 56, 312, and 812.

The IRBs are also authorized to retain consultants when necessary.

Institutional Official
The President of Georgia Institute of Technology has delegated authority to Jilda D. Garton, Vice President for Research (VPR), as the Institutional Official (IO) for Institutional Review Board purposes. She has the authority to legally commit Georgia Tech to meet federal regulatory requirements. The VPR/IO is responsible for appointing the Chair(s) of the Institutional Review Boards and board members, and she signs Georgia Tech's Federalwide Assurance.
